The Project

Over the last couple of years, we have been developing plans with architects at Miller Howard Workshop for a new Garden Room and Quaker Centre.

Our vision of a new Quaker Centre

We need the support of our community, partner groups, and grant funders to realise our ambition for simple and beautiful facilities to last 100 years. Here are some glimpses of what we hope to achieve (keep scrolling for updates!).

We hope to be able to begin construction during 2020. More details will appear here throughout the coming months. If you want to be kept informed of developments and receive information on our programme of fundraising events and activities, please email

September  2019: Thank you to so many Meetings and Friends!  An appeal in The Friend magazine raised £16,500 from Meetings and Friends across the UK.    We are continueing our appeals to Trusts and Foundations.   Meanwhile the garden room development team are working with the architects on tendering documents.   We will keep you posted.

June 2019: Planning Permission Granted! We are delighted that we now have the go-ahead from Oxford City Council for the building and renovation project. Architects are developing technical drawings and final plans. These will go out to tender during the early autumn—hopefully for a start of building in April 2020.

February 2019: Digging for Treasure? Here’s our archaeological survey underway—no Quaker hoard found, so we still need help to raise a further £300,000 to reach our budget of £600,000. Follow our progress here or contact our Office for more information.
